New York clothing designer Edwing D'Angelo has been using his talent to raise money and awareness since a nephew was diagnosed with the disorder.
Fashion for Autism, Inc launched during NY Fashion Week in February 2010 and will now tour different cities with designers being invited to showcase their collection.
DC is getting it's own Fashion for Autism event on Friday, September 24th at the City Tavern Club in Georgetown.
The event described as an "Evening Soiree of Fundraising, Style and Grace," will capture some of the same glitz of the NY event including the red carpet at 7pm, silent auction at 8pm and a fashion show of D'Angelo's collection at 9pm.
Washington glamour will be on display with local models and VIP's like Miss DC 2010, Stephanie Williams, former Miss DC Kate Michael and Miss Peru.
The crowd will be entertained by rising piano maestro Edvinas Minstimas and can browse and exhibit on disply by Viktorija Juodenaite.
A silent auction with proceeds benefitting autism programs will feature items from some of DC's trendiest clubs, boutiques and spas with items from Charm Boutique, Skin Therapy, Shadowroom, Serendipty 3 and Parma Spa.
And all guests will take home a luxurious gift bag filled with beauty products, gift cards and treats.
